Check Out Devin Tracy’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devin Tracy.

Hi Devin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m from Florida originally. I grew up in the south, I use to sing in church in the choir & youth praise team. I’ve always had a passion for singing and writing. That’s all I wanted to do. A couple of years after I graduated high school, I decided to move to New York. I always had plans of moving out there to pursue my career in music. So I packed majority of closet and got on a plane and flew to New York to thrive and live the dream. My viral intro as they say was when I met J.Robb in 2017 and he did a mix to “That’s Not Us”. That same year I recorded and wrote “GoodLovinn” and “Take Mee” which was later released on J.Robb’s White Label through Soulection. Then the year after me continuing with the boom-bap, sweet angelic sounds that come from my music. I released “the Black Label” also through Soulection..includes favorites like “For Me” and “Favorite Lover”. Kinda gave my fans the opportunity to get a taste of who I am as an artist. Which later gave me opportunity to have songs on popular shows like “Dear White People” on NETFLIX and “I May Destroy You” on HBOMAX. I mean that’s a little bit of what I’ve done leading up to now. There’s more to come it’s a new year and I’m hoping to continue to change lives and be bigger than I was before. Musically and mentally.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
This pandemic, I think everyone was struggling with that l. But also learning to control my thoughts, getting out of my head. Giving myself grace and listening to my body.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I also do graphic design. I stopped for a bit because I wanted to focus more on my music. Do you remember those flora edits. I’ve created pictures for Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland, Yara Shahidi, Solange, my good friend Joshua Cummings, etc. this list goes on.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I would say to stay focus. Know what it is that you want. There’s also nothing wrong with working with other individuals. If it matches your steelo then go for it. One more thing make sure your intentions are pure.
