Check Out Davis Macdonald’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Davis Macdonald.

Hi Davis, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Matsuo Basho wrote: “Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home.”

And so it has been for me. Starting from an impoverished family, climbing my way out and up to become an International Securities Lawyer, an Investment Banker, and even a Law Professor, with seven kids and a variety of grandkids. Who would have thought…as a scrawny kid growing up in Covina, California, I’d circumvent the world seven times or practice law from a Motor Yacht in Marina del Rey.

But you want to know about the BOOKS….

Eight suspenseful, fast-paced Mystery Novels, quick reads, page-turners, books read on the beach, on the plane, well past your bedtime, standing in line, and now discreetly in your Zoom Meeting (from your Lap).

I devote a year of my life to each book to bring an important message to you, the reader, about critical issues in our 21st Century wrapped inside a suspenseful ‘Who Done it’ that’s fun, exciting, and quick to read.

Would you have considered who the Homeless really are, why they are homeless, and what might be the political solution?? Perhaps, or perhaps not. But pickup Silicon Beach, a Murder Mystery with twists, turns, puzzles, and a surprise ending, and see how much you learn about the Homeless.

Would you have considered the philosophical foundations in the Koran which underpin the Jihad against Western Europe and the United States? Likely not. But read THE BAY, a mystery story of intrigue and suspense, and it’s all there.

Perhaps you have a guess about the next PANDEMIC coming to our World. Experts estimate we humans consume microplastic beads in the aggregate representing plastic ingestion the size of a credit card… EACH WEEK! Grab my latest Mystery Novel, THE CRUISE, and find out as you wind your way through a five-day voyage of mystery and deceit where dinner party guests are picked off, one by one.

Stanislaw Lec wrote: “I give you bitter pills in sugar coating. The pills are harmless: the poison is in the sugar.”

So, I offer you exciting and suspenseful mystery novels, eight of them published now, wrapped around important social issues of our time about which we should all be concerned.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I write suspenseful and often playful novels, inspired by real events from my life and stories from my clients, all to entertain. But buried in each story are nuggets of truth and issues of grave concern to us all.

I want my books read. The struggle for me has been to get people to pick one of my books to open, among the onslaught of mystery stories that are turned out each year and spread across the net and lined on shelves in bookstores.

It’s that first page I desperately want you to read!

Once you see the first page, you’ll read it to the end. And go on to read my other books, each bringing a focused light to bear on a dark corner of our society.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in shining a focused light on important social issues of our 21st century, wrapped inside thrilling and suspenseful mystery novels that people greatly enjoy reading and find difficult to put down.

I am most proud of the way my stories blend real life with fiction; Blend suspense and sometimes the horror of real-life with humorous interludes that make people smile; and Blend a puzzling, twisting suspense mystery around a serious social topic we all need to be cognizant of.

What sets me apart from others is for my readers to decide. I take a year to write each book. Each book is a serious commitment for me. Each book is heavily researched. And I won’t invest the time and energy to write a novel unless I have something important to say. My commitment is not to be a mystery writer. My commitment is to bring to the public’s attention in each book a serious issue about which we all need to be aware.

My mystery story is just the wrapper, friends. The sugar coating around the pill…

What matters most to you?
It matters that people read my books. And learn about the critical social issues I expose.
