Check out Daren Magee’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daren Magee.

Daren, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I have always had some form of expression brewing within me. I always strive to stand out in a crowd. It took nearly a lifetime to hone that into something that would even closely resemble a career. It wasn’t until around 2017 that I had become completely fed up with working menial jobs with no semblance of an artistic outlet. I had a moment of self-reflection, where I made a promise to myself that I would draw something everyday. Not realizing that this would eventually lead to a prosperous career, I began refining my style and look into what it has become today. All it took was a decade of crappy jobs to lead me to where I am today.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am an illustrator, which means I draw things. I work digitally which allows me to produce a much quicker rate than I could if I was still drawing using the traditional pen and paper route. I really try to convey humanity in my work. With all its struggles, its beauty and its utter confoundment. None of us really know what we’re doing, let alone what we’re doing here. I think there’s some comfort in that and I try and bring the fact that we’re all in this mystery together into my work.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
I define success as an unwillingness or need to compromise one’s artistic voice. To be able to express yourself through your work as honestly and as vulnerable as possible without fear of judgment. I believe that being honest with one’s self is essential to success as an artist. If you’re not honest with yourself, first and foremost, I believe that will come across in your work.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I am on Instagram @realfunwow and my website is I license my work to companies big and small and I have wholesale accounts across the globe!
