Check Out Chuck Jay’s Story

Hi Chuck, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, I was really shy, loved to listen to music anywhere I would go. I would just be in my happy place when music was involved. My father would play Prince & Micheal Jackson day and night, so much I would go to sleep to Billie Jean & Liberian girl on repeat. But when I finally got into high school, I was on the football team and one of my good friends told me to join choir it’s an easy A so I joined and that’s where I began to really learn vocal techniques and made the decision I wanted to be an artist.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In the beginning it was difficult, I left home to pursue my dreams and really did it the wrong way no game plan, no structure, no ideas how to make a good song. Just lost with talent that’s it. I met some old friends from high school who really help me get the ball rolling creating mixtapes and doing shows and building a name for myself and shortly after my father passed and I took some years off cause I felt lost the man that introduced me to music was gone.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m an RNB singer/songwriter. My specialty are Hooks I can make a catchy hook easily with a dope melody. I’m most proud of my style of writing. I have been told I give heavy 90’s early 2000’s vibes with my music. I stand out cause I don’t look like the typical RNB singer most people think I rap cause of how I look. I like the wow factor I get at shows.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was really shy growing up always listened to music I used to watched grease 2 and moonwalker ever weekend and my father would let me listen to Michael Jackson so much I would secretly practice singing his songs. And when I wasn’t watching movies or listening to music I would watch power rangers .
