Hi Chris, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a 21 years old photographer born in Chicago raised in Detroit. I’ve been shooting for two years now, I always wanted a camera throughout high school but could never afford one till afterwards when I dropped out. I started roofing then eventually worked in a factory after two years working in the factory and doing photography, I ended up getting fired ever since then my camera has brought me to great cities and I’ve met great people I shot for Bathing Ape, worked with g herbo big sean and other artists I moved to LA & ATL for five months earlier this year and ended up signing to BMG Models LA to model and act…I then moved back to Detroit where I stay now and want to build my own studio and want to bring clients that I’ve worked within other cities and just bring the same feeling LA, ATL, New York, etc. has to Detroit to show people how great the city is and just to create more opportunities for people my age or just anyone in general that doesn’t think they can chase their dreams and make a living doing so.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been a smooth road for the most part, I never really ran into any problems…besides creators block which most artists have but I usually help stop that by watching movies, or I may smoke Freelancing sometimes money can be a problem, waiting on payments, etc. You really just have to know how to manage your funds.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do photography, videography, and model…I specialize in photography I’m most known for that, I’m really proud of myself for shooting for bape at such a young age and only doing photography for such a short period of time but I work hard at what I do I’m proud of myself because I feel like I’ve accomplished everything I’ve always wanted to do growing up like a big part of it….there’s still more to do of course but I’m always writing down new goals everyday and taking inspiration from my childhood…I don’t like to think like that because every artist has their own way of thinking and making their art. I couldn’t really tell you what sets me apart from others.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see myself shooting for big name magazines, editorials, I really want my own studio in Detroit and eventually want to start my own model agency and just help bring new opportunities to the city from my end…I also see myself directing films I really want to pursue videos more than photos I feel like I can just add my photo work into a film any type of way…I would like to model for big brands such as Jordan or Nike, etc. always been a dream of mine I want to turn my company Shoot To Survive into something bigger I wanna do documentaries, films, music videos, photoshoots, make streetwear, have studios in multiple cities
