Check Out Carmen Dee’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmen Dee.

Hi Carmen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started in radio about 2010 and had my own show in college called Back to the future where I hosted, DJ’d and engineered my own show. I interned for Power 106 and once I graduated college, I brought Back to the Future to internet radio at under DJ Carisma. From there, I began to take DJing seriously and have since done two international tours while holding down curated events and residencies here in LA.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t know about smooth, but I always attempt to make the most out of situations and learn from whatever is holding me back. I believe if there’s a will, there’s a way- just depends how hard you want to go for it.

I feel, One of the biggest struggles any young person can go through is the process of trusting yourself while holding yourself accountable with healthy boundaries.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
DJing ~ I am most proud of my radio shows (which I need to bring back!) and international tours.

My brand is Back to the Future; I specialize in playing a wide variety of music, with an emphasis on hip-hop and RnB. I love blending genres and eras, which to me, help create an illusion of time and space. It’s all just one moment 🙂
