Check out Carmela Segal’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmela Segal.

Carmela, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I come from a family of artists; my mom studied fashion, my dad is an animator, and my brother is a professional magician. From an early age, my parents were very supportive when I took an interest in drawing. My dad was actually my first client, he paid me a dollar a drawing. When I was in high school, I created the Fine Arts Club, so students had a safe and stress-free art environment. During this time I was also the theater department’s set/ poster designer, while also acting in the same plays. I ended up getting a scholarship to a nearby art school for college. After a year in art school, I decided to drop out and move to Los Angeles to pursue my acting and art career.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a painter, so most of my work is either a watercolor or acrylic painting. My art is very colorful because I want people to feel bright and alive when they look at my paintings. There isn’t a specific message that comes with my paintings, but I do want to bring color to people’s lives. If you find a message in my art that is okay too because my art is whatever you make it.

How can artists connect with other artists?
I am a barista, and on my days off I love to paint at the coffee shop. Every time I do someone stops to talk to me about my art, I have even gotten a couple of clients this way. Volunteering for local art events has also helped me meet new artists and make new friends!

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I have an art Instagram (carmelasegal_art) where you can see almost all of my work and message me to buy originals or prints!
