Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Renteria-larios.
Hi Brenda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m 34 years old wife and mother of a seven years old girl and four years old boy. I’m a full-time registered nurse by day, five days a week. Currently, I make all my orders from my home. I bake and decorate my cakes after the kiddos go to bed and during the weekends. It does get challenging at times but the happiness my cakes are spreading is truly priceless!
I began baking in 2019 after my daughter asked me to make her birthday cake. After watching many YouTube videos, I gave it a try and it was a hit! From there, more and more people began to ask me to make their cakes. It also happened during a time where my mother was in a coma that turned into an eight months hospitalization. I was under a lot of stress and my anxiety was out of this world. I submerged myself in more and more orders of cakes. They have truly gave me the peace and joy I was needing. Everything I know has been learned via YouTube and from my insta baker friends that have been there when I have questions. So 300 plus cakes later, here we are making sweet dreams, bakesbakeryco has been a true blessing in so many ways! Having the support of my husband has truly helped too. I really wish to open a cute bakery in the future and expand.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m a mom, wife and full-time nurse so I often overbook myself with orders but I’m getting better with that. I bake at night and during the weekends only. I need more hrs in the day!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I get to be a nurse by day and a baker at night. I get to save lives and spread happiness with my cakes. I’ve been able to be in some amazing styled photo shoots with some of my favorite floral cakes.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
When you are faced with challenges in life just know there is always a light at the end of the road. When I was under so much stress and anxiety and possibly depressed, I never ever thought baking would bring so much happiness to my life! It has also taught me the importance of time managing since I play so many roles.
