Today we’d like to introduce you to Aquiles Magaña.
Aquiles, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I fell in love with early 70’s funk, soul, afrobeat, and jazz music. And a lot of our sound is inspired and emulated from this era. I put together a project with musicians I worked with in various bands and formed Mestizo Beat. Within that first year we have released a single with Colemine Records and have performed various festivals throughout the West Coast.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
We write, record, and perform original music inspired by the golden era of soul and R&B. This era of music speaks to us and we have become obsessed with its material. The message is love and revolution. And we hope that our fans can feel it through our music and Bring positivity to the moment. We love what we do and we hope others enjoy it.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
To me success is being able to make a buck off your own original music, traveling all over the world sharing your music, and being able to sustain a creative business.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
