Check out Apollo (Aaron) Loco (Lim)’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Apollo (Aaron) Loco (Lim).

Apollo, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I always loved music even at a young age. Even as a kid, my dream was to be a performing artist watching music videos and performances on TV.

I would emulate a lot of artists that I would watch. At the age of 16, that’s when my passion for music started to really take over. I started songwriting and doing covers/remixes and uploading them on YouTube. I had to do all that in secret because I was actually scared to let my parents know at that time and too shy to let my friends know about it. Basically living two different lives, I would be this nerdy Asian kid at daytime, and an aspiring artist at night time.

After a couple of years, I dropped out of college and decided to go full time with a music career. It wasn’t the easiest decision to make but I really couldn’t stand school and it was hard for me to imagine doing anything besides music. Now I’m a full-time artist, doing what I truly love and even being able to travel around the world to perform. There are still many days/nights when it gets tough being an independent artist but the thrill of performing on the stages with the crowd singing along with your songs are some of the reasons that keeps me going.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I’m a recording + performing artist. My artist name is Apollo Loco, & I like to create music that the listeners can vibe with any time, anywhere taking them out of the world to escape from reality for a little bit. I try to mix a little bit of all my favorite genres such as hip-hop, pop, jazz and even a little bit of alternative.

When I create music, I freestyle more than I write to record my current feeling at that moment so every song has a different mood and contains different messages. I try to be as organic as possible, hoping that people can relate with me and feel connected with me through my music.

I want to inspire people to be themselves and not be afraid to let say what they think and do what they want. Without worrying what others will think or trying to be like others.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Just be yourself. Stay focused and don’t get distracted by other things that don’t contribute to your dreams. Also don’t be so caught up with other peoples opinions and just do what your guts tell you without a hint of hesitation. I feel like if you are not excited about your own craft, other people can feel that and most likely won’t be excited about your craft as well.

One of the biggest issues that I had when I started doing any of this, was that I was really insecure & always worried about what others might think about me and my music. Now I’m doing exactly what I advice other artists to do which is to just be confident with your own creation, enjoy the creative process, and put it out the world. After that, move on to the next project and repeat the same process.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My music is available on all music platforms under the name Apollo Loco such as SoundCloud, Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora etc.

People can support me by simply streaming, purchasing and sharing my music!
