Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Caro.
Adrian, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’ve been an Artist as far back as I can remember, it was my muse. Coming from foster care, adoption and group Homes, being Creative gave me something to look forward to. I can remember being excited for a new comic book, I would try to copy the artwork in them. It was really exciting for me as I was just finding out what I can do. I can remember my Pops being an artist, he did just about any medium I can think of. He wasn’t around much, but the times he was, he was Always creating or building something. As I got older, I only got into more trouble landing me I’m Jail at the age of 15, I was in and out till the age of 24. But no matter what I was still creating and drawing. It’s how I finally got introduced to Tattooing. It was not even something I thought about doing. I was instantly obsessed, I love learning and I was excited to learn something new and found another way to create. I was fascinated to be honest lol I was never really into tattoos. When I see what can be done on skin, I knew right then and there, it’s what I wanted to do For Ever! Lol I owe a lot to my Mother. she really held it down for me and literally put me on when I got out of Prison. She was the only one who believed in me when I didn’t. She actually helped me open my first Tattoo studio (Under the Skin Tattoo) in 2006.
Since then I opened Sacred Art Studio in Downtown Los Angeles, I have been in DTLA for 7 years now. We are a Full Custom shop with 4 Artist including myself and a loyalty apprentice. Dtla has been great to us, and we don’t see leaving anytime soon.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My main focus has always been Tattooing, Black and Gray Realism. This year I actually started to do Cut and Sew (fashion design), another creative outlet I have recently come drawn to. It was always a Goal of mine to break into the fashion world with my Tattooong. Now that I have, I’ve been inspired by, my then clients and now Friends, the support has been amazing.
I am living my Dream, I am a Creator.
I want to show people they can also live their dreams no matter what it is or how ridiculous it sounds.
My message is that anyone can do anything they set their mind to. I want to inspire the youth with my story and show them no matter what city, hood or upbringing they might have had, they can also be successful.
My Art work can be recognized for its dynamic approach of tones in Light and Dark.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Success is Subjective. It’s a Mindset. Being successful doesn’t necessarily mean you have a fat bank account. To me being successful is simply being happy in the moment and situation your life is currently in and living the best life you can.
No matter what it is, go all in, be consistent, never quit and you will Always be successful. If playing video games all day is your thing, do that shit with passion and get paid for it! Monetize your talents.
Not sure what is essential to being an artist, just be a Sponge and never stop learning.
Be humble, pay homage and be fucking Nice:)
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
