Check Out Adam Holmgren’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Holmgren.

Hi Adam, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am originally from Alaska. I have a twin sister, and we were adopted. While growing up in Alaska, I would have never thought that I would be in LA doing Modeling, Acting, and Photography. I always thought I would be working a 9-5 job wearing a suit and working for a company, which is why after I graduated high school I decided to move to New York. I had always liked fashion so I decided to go to the Fashion Institute of Technology and get a business degree related to Fashion.

While there, I started doing fashion shows and joked around that if I didn’t want to work a 9-5 that I would become a model. I also took a few video and photography classes for electives and really enjoyed them, but I didn’t think I would become a photographer as I was focusing on my international business degree. While still in school, I was working for an advertising company and I was having an ok time but I just felt like it was not what I really wanted to do for the rest of my life. Once I graduated, I took a year off and really thought about what I wanted to do with my life, as I obtained 2 degrees but realized that I really didn’t want to work in an office or for a company. At the end of that year, I decided that New York was not the place I wanted to be and that I wanted to be in a more relaxed warmer city, which is why I chose LA. I got rid of the majority of my things and flew to LA, where I slept on a friend’s couch for a month before I was able to get an apartment. I was not sure what I wanted to do in LA and I even thought about applying for office jobs, but I knew that that was not what I wanted and that my real passions were to be creative.

To earn some money, I started doing background acting work and while on set, I realized that I really love it and that acting was something I wanted to do. While taking acting classes and gaining more knowledge on the entertainment industry, I started to do modeling again and was eventually able to get signed to an agency. I was really enjoying being behind the camera but I was also interested in how to create content, so I started taking pictures of friends, took more photo classes, and was on YouTube for hrs improving my skills. It has been five years since this journey started and there have been ups and downs but I truly love all that I do and I hope that I can keep following all my passions and create a lot of wonderful content off and on camera.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road to where I am was not as smooth as it could have been, and there were a few struggles. One of my biggest struggles was the decision to pursue my passions and not work a 9-5. I had obtained college degrees and had thought that I would use them and work in an office. I don’t like wasting time and I thought that if I restarted and put my time in the photography and acting that all the time in college would be considered a waste of time. It took me a few years to finally put 100% effort into the Photography and acting as I was still looking for office jobs and not putting the majority of my efforts into what I really wanted to do.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do a lot of things, but my main jobs are Photographer/Videographer, Model and Actor. As a photographer, I specialize in Headshots and lifestyle photography. I also do product photography. For videography, I do just about anything ranging from product videos, actors reels, fitness videos, videos for brands and portrait videos. For modeling and acting, my specialty is commercial print and commercial acting. I have modeled and acted for a lot of brands and my images have been all over the world. I am most proud of the fact that I am self-taught with my photography and videography. I took one or two classes to get the basics down, but after that I taught myself everything I know. The thing that sets me apart is my ability to adapt to whatever situation that is presented to me. I try my best to have well-balanced knowledge about many photo and video techniques so when a client wants something specific on the fly, I am able to achieve the desired look.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
New experiences really make me happy. I really love learning and doing new things. The world is very large and there is so much that I haven’t done. I love traveling to new places, learning new skills, and meeting new interesting people.
