Today we’d like to introduce you to Zack Edison.
Zack, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I picked up my love for video & photography through skateboarding. As a teenager, I spent every free moment I had running around the streets of the valley jumping down stairs and making skateboarding videos with my friends. As I got older I realized this was more than a passion, and applied to film school. After college, I worked as an editor in the promotional feature film landscape, cutting trailers and promo spots. I eventually left and started my own production company where I cover everything from Instagram video ads to lookbook photography sessions for clients. I owe it all to my skateboard.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I’m a Photographer and Editor. I love the process of taking staged or candid photos just as much as I enjoy the process of sitting down, sifting through and editing them. I’m a very visual-driven person and try to use as much in the frame that I can to help capture that moment. Whether it’s the direction of a model’s eye line, or blown out colors on an object: every photo has its story to tell.
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Success as an artist means finding content in what you’ve created.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
A lot of my commercial photo work is used for advertisements. The rest of the commercial batch can usually be found on the companies social outlets. I try and post my personal work to my Instagram account, and am also currently working on putting together a book in the near future.
