Art & Life with Miranda Viramontes, Heaven Martinez and Brandi Estrada

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Viramontes, Heaven Martinez and Brandi Estrada.

Miranda, Heaven and Brandi, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
MoonFuzz started about three years ago when I (Miranda) asked Brandi to jam in high school. We had met through high school marching band but neither of us had any experience being in an actual band. Neither of us owned a drum kit or guitar at the time, but we somehow made it happen. Soon after, we asked our friend, who is now a former member, to play bass/sing. We quickly started trying to write music and play shows. Through playing gigs here and there, we eventually met Heaven who is in another local band called Ariel View. We’d be on the same lineups and would see each other in passing. I (Miranda) asked Heaven if she wanted to jam and ended up joining Ariel View as well. So when our former singer/bass player moved away for college, Heaven was a great fit. Since Heaven has joined we’ve released a self-titled album and been playing consistent shows.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
MoonFuzz is our creative outlet. With me on bass (heaven), Miranda on guitar, and Brandi on drums, we all find a way to channel our energy together as a form of expression. Our songwriting process is usually done in a bunch of disconnected parts. Either I (Heaven) or Miranda will come to the band with various song ideas and the rest of the process is spent trying to put them together. We do this because music comes naturally to us and we need a way to express it. It’s our passion and we love to perform. We can all agree that when going through hardships, we find it comforting to listen to a song and know that we share the same experience as others. We want to offer that same sense of comfort to others listening to our music.

How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Success to us means getting to do what we love to do as much as we can. We think it’s important to be passionate about your work. Being passionate brings out the best performance in all of us and is what ultimately keeps us going.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
We have all of our music available on all streaming platforms such as Spotify, Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Apple music, etc. Supportive gestures have been shared by listening to us on these streaming platforms listed above as well as buying our merch and of course, going to our shows! 🙂
