Art & Life with Matthew Jimenez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Jimenez.

Matthew, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I started photographing in college as a hobby. I originally started as a landscape photographer and slowly turned towards model photography when my friend introduced me to model mayhem. I used the site to shoot weekly and get better with natural light which became my style. I still shoot but not as often as I used to due to my busy schedule. I try to find cool locations that work with the model and if all else fails I’ll make some random location my backdrop as long as the light looks good.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I photograph models for model agencies or simply just for fun. I’m inspired by a lot of photographers who create crisp clean images with style. I’m a big fan of style and unique vision so if a photographer can implement his/her own style into their work I think that’s pretty cool. I’m not sure what people can take away from my work I just simply hope they can appreciate it.

What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
There are always photo meets out in LA but if you want to connect with other artists find them through Instagram or their website and say “Hello”. You should never have scared to go directly to the artist’s page and have a simple conversation, we’re all regular people and like to talk about our work.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
