Today we’d like to introduce you to David Villalva.
David, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My story began when I first picked up a canon camera in 2010. I was attending Santa Monica College and I decided to take a photography class as part of my elective courses. I took the class and got a C in the classroom. For some reason, all the information stuck to me when I took the course. 4 years later I took photography seriously and attended the Art Institute of California – Hollywood to get my Bachelors in Photography. I got inspired by the photography instructors and how successful they were so, I took the initiative to photograph people on my days off, and just keep creating amazing photographs.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Men’s fashion photography is what I have a passion for. Through time I tend to pay attention to style, color, and creativity. I chose this field because I love fashion. I want to show people the aesthetic photographs I make when I’m with my models. I do more natural light, and I try to find a great location to make my photographs authentic. One day I want my audience or anyone to find my photographs in magazines, billboards, campaigns, or online and be proud of my accomplishments for making it this far in my photography career.
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Don’t give up you will be ok. Consistency and patience is key to a successful career. Keep creating amazing photographs, and network. Networking is always fun because you get to meet amazing people along the way!
Little by little the doors will open and opportunities will come.
