Art & Life with Dave Baker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dave Baker.

Dave, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’m from the deserted wasteland that is Tucson, Arizona. I now live and work in Los Angeles where I create comic books. I also write for film and television.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I’ve written the comics Action Hospital, Fuck Off Squad, Suicide Forest, and Murders, among many others. I’ve also published the critical comics analysis pieces Shitty Dark Knight and Shitty Watchmen, where myself and a group of artists redrew the masterworks, just very poorly, in order to deconstruct them.

What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
I’m a pretty political person, so current events impact my work quite a bit. I’m someone who wants to make work that reflects the world around them.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I regularly tour the U.S. selling my comics at conventions. I’ll be at WonderCon, Emerald City Comic Con, and C2E2 in Chicago, next month. My work can be found online at
