Art & Life with Chris Lazer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Lazer.

Chris, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far ?
My journey has been pretty crazy. I started pursuing my dream about 3 years ago and it’s been a pretty wild ride. I never thought I would get this far! I started off as a solo artist just my guitar and me. My first open mic I booked a show and then it all took off from there. People really started resonating with my voice and my message and I was lucky to be able to play with so many amazing musicians and artists. I started a band called The Bad Mofos and played all over. I’ve always been afraid of just being a solo artist because I never thought I was good enough I got told early on that I was too fat to be a rockstar and that I would never be famous because of the way I looked. I took that to heart and hid behind so many people and now I’m ready with a brand new sense of self to share new music and go in a new direction as a solo artist. I’ve written so many new songs about mental health, overcoming anxiety, being able to express yourself and our current political situation and I just want to share light and love with the world. No matter what people say about you live your truth and keep fighting for what’s right.

Can you give our readers some background on your work?
My background on my work is a mix of genres. I love blending old school rock with pop melodies and powerful lyrics. My current solo project is brand spanking new and I have my first solo show main stage at Hotel Cafe Sept 28!! Where I will he playing with some amazing old and new friends who share my vision.

In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
I think the biggest challenge we face right now is the streaming industry. I love them but they need to respect our art and give Artists the money that they are due. There is a huge opportunity for us to break away from this Imogen Heap has a wonderful concept on how we can break away from this and to give artists their due

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I have my first single from my band Chris Lazer and The Bad mofos on Spotify called Save me. I’m also performing the Main stage Hotel Cafe Sept 28!!
