Art & Life with Carrie Lau

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carrie Lau.

Carrie, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I was born and raised in Hong Kong, graphic design interested me a lot while I was working at a fashion magazine there; I decided to come to LA for graphic design program, since then I have been working in LA for graphic design and art direction. I also have been doing ceramics and illustration projects alongside with my freelance work.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
The works from Object-Matter Studio (graphic design), O-M ceramic (ceramics) and Ghost (illustration) interest me a lot and they are all project-based type of works, so it would be easier if I put them in schedule and make a balance. I enjoy having variety on the execution of creative. Ceramic, Art direction, graphic design, and illustration, these give me a great experience of creative thinking on different mediums. I hope you will see the playfulness and happiness from my works. My works focused on minimal and contemporary form and are distinguished by their modern and curvilinear form, as well as their playful movement and naturalistic tension.

In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
believe in your work without distraction
