Art & Life with Bria Scott

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bria Scott.

Bria, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
It all started with shooting film on landscapes on the East Coast. I was always intrigued by balance and space of the buildings in Washington, D.C, as well as the interior and exterior architecture. I then began to evolve into shooting digital photography landscapes but felt as though there was something or someone missing: A Muse. My first digital camera was gifted to me on Christmas when my parents saw how passionate I am about capturing the moment. With the abundance of beautiful and talented friends and family that I do have, I began shooting with the few who had a flexible schedule to join me in achieving high fashion editorial shoots, events, or just simply building a portfolio for whatever specific art they pursued.

Over time, I have grown so much inner-standing with learning the beauty of shooting manual with a DSLR; The power of shutter speeds, the versatility simply changing the aperture and depth of field, directing, and the best part- EDITING!! Post-Production is tedious, but I always enjoyed a challenge. I grew even more inspired to keep going with Photography which soon led me to develop an undying love for motion pictures as well and incorporated these skills into my business and brand as Black Myth Visuals. I started shooting as a freelance photographer and instantly, I began to expand my connections with more artists and producing creative ideas for concepts and set design because everyone is always looking for a photographer to take photos of them. Everyday is a birthday, a celebration; Everyday there is a moment shared that people want to look back on and feel that sweet warmth of nostalgia. And what better way to be a vessel of capturing the moment. Just think about a photo that brings back that good feeling. It’s powerful and a blessing to have a vision from a unique perspective that differs from everyone, just like the next photographer! We are all creative individuals who tell a story through what we see based on how we capture and edit it.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
In photography, I want all of my photos to embody the essence of the model in character based on the editorial concepts I or WE put together. I also enjoy going to events like festivals and Fashion Shows in New York and Paris, and Urban Street Style to capture different styles that stand out to me. I enjoy shooting intimate moments that I share with my family to look back on the timeline of my family’s legacy. I enjoy teaming up with the abundance of talented and creative friends that I know and support in my life. I also like to dabble in the realm of motion pictures.

Thus far, I have created video recaps, short films, and music videos with local artists, but I crave more! I aspire to be where the top dogs are like Lions Gate, Paramount, or even Warner Brothers! My message of inspiration to M.Y.T.H! Make Your Thoughts Happen. That means that I want you to go for it no matter the cost, because if you don’t make the positive change for you, then that is your loss. What I want everyone to inner-stand and take from that is that you can do ANYTHING with passion, patience, persistence, and perseverance. If I can do something that I passionate about and travel the world doing so at 22 years old, then so can you my friend!

How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Success is a rollercoaster. I suggest every entrepreneur or freelance to inner-stand the success is not linear. Success has its blessings and lessons, but it is all up to your response. Success is knowing the value of Quality over quantity. Success is studying your medium. Success is seeking knowledge and passion of your art over money first.

Success is knowing your purpose behind what drives you to want to succeed in what you are passionate about. That qualities that I believe is essential to the success of an artist are passion and genuine energy. Like I mentioned previously, “Success is seeking knowledge and passion of your art”. I added genuine energy because it breeds a genuine connection between me and someone. I connect with my models in terms of letting them be themselves comfortably because naturally, that is how I would want to feel. Give light and let those who vibrate on my frequency reflect that.
