Today we’d like to introduce you to Beatriz Valim.
Beatriz, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My whole childhood I remember my dad taking photos with disposable cameras nonstop! Nonstop! Taking photos of every single memory. I wanted to do that too. When I was old enough, my mom bought me my first disposable camera and then I too, took photos of everything. Nonstop. Though, I never knew I could turn this thing that I loved into a career. Then, first year of high school I began to think, what if it could? In junior year of high school, I took a cinematography class where it was split into two parts, first photography, second video making. That’s when I knew that I couldn’t love photography more than anything else. (Couldn’t stand video making) fast forward to two years later, I got my very first digital camera. I began doing portraits of friends and now I’m meeting new people almost every week to create amazing shoots!
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a beauty & fashion photographer as well as a graphic designer. I like to incorporate graphic design into my images to create something out of this world! I gain inspiration from art historical pieces as well as incorporate today’s street fashion into my photography. Art history is another passion of mine. Life imitates art. I’ve taken two art history courses in college and now I’m thinking of taking my next art history class for more inspiration!
What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
Sharing your work online/following other artists on social media will definitely connect you with other artists, whether it may be for work or making friendships!
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
People can see my work through my YouTube channel where I will be documenting behind the scenes videos of my next shoot!
