Art & Life with Andrew Sexton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Sexton.

Andrew, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
There’s not really anything interesting about my story. Im pathologically normal. I have a day job, a relationship and make art whenever I can so I don’t completely lose it.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I feel like the world is completely ruled by mediocrity. Corporate thinking has trickled down and poisoned everything, everyone is just concerned about making a buck. I guess my art practice is an attempt to meditate upon doing things right.

Do you think conditions are generally improving for artists? What more can cities and communities do to improve conditions for artists?
I’m not sure. I think the problems facing artists these days are the same problems facing everyone else. The rise of Fascicm/Totalitarianism/Corporatism across all democratic nations, and the continued destruction of the environment. I guess we should all do whatever it takes to prevent these two horrors and art and all other human endeavors will have a better chance of surviving.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I have a website that I update every few years, and an instagram page @sextonstudios that I update slightly more often. You can also see my ongoing and ever growing retrospective in my parents basement in Montreal.
