Art & Life with Adrian Rudd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Rudd.

Adrian, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I grew up in Danville, Kentucky, a small town made up of about 16,000 people. In most small towns there is not much focus on the arts in schools or the community. Luckily, my town was home to Centre College, a liberal arts school, which brought world renowned artists, musicians, plays, and galleries to our town, and my parents exposed me to all of that. Growing up I was very artistic whether I was drawing, painting, writing or singing. That creativity manifested into photography when I got my first camera my senior year of high school. I took several photography classes in college and freelanced once I graduated. After about a year of doing that I decided to move from Kentucky to Los Angeles.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I take photos of people and places with the hope that when people look at my artwork they can emotionally identify with the subject. When I take photos of people I try to capture a pure moment of emotion whether it’s joy, confidence, sadness, determination, peacefulness, etc. When I am sharing a landscape photo I am almost always highlighting the beauty and stillness of my surroundings and trying to give the viewer those same senses I am feeling in that moment.

In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
Social media. It’s easy to get lost in the numbers and let them dictate your creativity, self-expression, and growth as an artist.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
People can see my work at or my Instagram: @Adrian. Rudd. People can support my work by supporting the industry. Value the artists, their vision, their time, and the expense that goes into making great work.
