#LACreatives: the local artists who inspire us

Through a mix of mediums, formats and perspectives local artists illuminate the unknown, color the previously black-and-white and add depth to our understanding of our surroundings, our lives, circumstances and more. Through our research process for the Thought provokers series we’ve come across so many works of art that have inspired us and we’d like to share some of our favorites we you below.

Another one with beautiful @mepattullo. I love to shoot images like this one where the subject seems to be emerging from or seeping into the shadows. I also like disembodied heads and limbs/hands.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I think it’s because it brings a sense of mystery to the image. When viewing an image like this there is a feeling that something is revealed and something is hidden.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For me this is a beautiful metaphor for our relationship to both the world and ourselves. As we go down our various paths in life some things reveal themselves to us, others never do no matter how desperately we seek.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As a matter of fact, it seems the more willing we are to let go of our desire to control our world, the more likely we are to notice when something unfolds from the shadows and reveals itself to us.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have been doing my best to let things unfold, rather than trying to force them. Whether it’s the outcome of some project or my desire to know my own mind, I find that if I do the work eventually the revelation comes, though rarely in the way I had expected.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the meantime I embrace the mystery and remind myself that without it, the world would be a terribly dull place.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you find mystery intriguing or would you rather always know the whole story?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #lightandshadow #tonesofgrace #bnw_demand #shadowlicious #burnmagazine #nowherediary #artclassified #photocinematica #ourmomentum #stopmagazine #n8zine #phroommagazine #artphotography #artclassified #ignant #fineart_photo #bnwportrait #blancnoir2 #bnw_addiction
